Case Study - Bramcote

PAS installed the UK's first High Density Polyethylene boom at Bramcote.

With the pools being longer then the desired 25m for competition, dividing it up created two pools allowing more revenue to be generated.

Previously there were only two options for doing this, installing a concrete promenade as a permanent boom which involves a lengthy shutdown, or a stainless steel structure which would be expensive and carry extreme weight, potentially causing damage to the pool..

The PAS option is a complete boom manufactured from High Density Polyethylene, a material that is widely used in swimming pools for drainage grates. HDPE is extremely durable and has a long lifetime, in keeping with the structure, all the fittings including the handrails, barriers and diving blocks are also polyethylene

The boom at Bramcote was tailored to their specification in colours to compliment their swimming pool.

Safety issues were addressed with demarcation lines on the walkway and with no gaps exceeding the regulation 8mm throughout the entire boom.

With installation in just five days, shutdown was minimal, therefore reducing the loss of revenue to the centre.
